Why does Currents charge a fee?

keyboard_arrow_down

Currents provides a product and service that aggregates, manages and transacts RECs for our customers, both residential homes and commercial systems. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes work involved in registering systems, handling paperwork, automating solar production reporting, aggregating RECs, communicating with buyers, ensuring compliance across states and handling transactions. The fee keeps our lights on and our employees paid, ensuring we can deliver the best product and service to our customers.

Why is there a $5 minimum per REC sold?

keyboard_arrow_down

Currents has a minimum fee, like all other SREC aggregators, because we have processing fees as a broker to handle the REC transactions on your behalf. We don't pass any transaction fees onto our customers. This means that we are charged transaction fees by our payment processor.

What's included in the fee?

The fee is all-inclusive, meaning that there are no separate management or transaction fees to worry about.

When I sign the agreement, am I locked in?

keyboard_arrow_down

No, our agreements do not lock customers into a contract. By signing the agreements, both the GATS Schedule A Form and the Currents Platform Terms, you allow Currents to generate and manage the sales of RECs on your behalf. These agreements do not transfer ownership of the RECs to Currents. The system owner ("Generator Owner") still owns the rights to the RECs. Once you sign the agreements with Currents, you are able to cancel them by providing a 30-day written notice.
