How to Transfer Your Solar Generator to Currents: A Simple Guide

Whether you're switching from another REC aggregator or simply onboarding for the first time, here’s how you can take full advantage of Currents’ services in just a few steps.

Step 1: Connect Your Solar Inverter

Once you’ve signed up for Currents, navigate to the onboarding section and select "Transfer System." This will initiate the process for moving your solar generator to our platform.

From here you'll connect your solar inverter to Currents for automatic solar reporting. This allows us to automate your SREC generation, hassle free!

Step 2: Locate Your GATS ID

Your GATS (Generation Attribute Tracking System) ID is essential for the transfer.

If you’re unsure where to find it, our onboarding guide will show you exactly how to locate this ID in your GATS account.

Method 1

1. Log into your GATS account
2. Click on "Assets", then "Generation", then "Enter/View Generation"
3. Look for Unit ID (starts with NON)
4. Copy ID and paste in the input box

2. Click on "Assets" → "Assets" → "Display my assets"
3. Look for Unit ID (starts with NON) in the first column
4. Copy ID and paste in the input box

Step 3: Complete the Required Documentation

Before we can officially process the transfer, you must sign Schedule A, which authorizes Currents to manage your system.

This step ensures compliance with state and aggregator regulations.

Step 4: We Take It From Here

Once you’ve completed the steps above, our team will:

1. Initiate the Transfer
   We’ll submit a transfer request through GATS using your ID.
   ‍
2. Confirm the Request
   You’ll receive an email confirming the request has been made (email templates and automations are on their way to streamline this step).

3. Evaluate Existing Credits
   If you have existing SRECs with your previous aggregator, we’ll ask about them and even offer to buy them from you at competitive rates.
