Here's an updated overview focusing on PECO rates and other utility providers across the state.

Current PECO Electric Rates (March 2025)

PECO Energy's residential Price to Compare for the generation supply portion of your bill is 9.239¢/kWh from March 1, 2025 – May 31, 2025. This represents a significant change from previous rates and affects all PECO customers.

For residential customers (R, RH), PECO's Generation Supply Adjustment (GSA) effective March 1, 2025 is 8.381¢ per kWh, which is slightly lower than the previous rate of 8.429¢ per kWh [3].

Pennsylvania Energy Usage and Cost Estimates

Pennsylvania households consume approximately 846 kWh per month on average [4]. Using PECO's current rate of 9.239¢/kWh, the estimated monthly supply charge would be:

Monthly Bill = 846 kWh × 9.239¢/kWh ÷ 100 = $78.16

This calculation represents only the generation portion of your bill. Additional charges like delivery fees, taxes, and service fees will increase the total amount.

Competitive Supplier Rates vs. PECO Rates Per kWh

Pennsylvania's deregulated energy market allows customers to choose alternative suppliers that may offer lower rates than the utility's standard offer.

Current PECO energy rates can be compared with competitive supplier options:

For PECO customers, supplier rates as low as 6.50¢/kWh have been available, potentially providing savings compared to PECO's current rates [7]. Learn how to manage this without hassle using Currents.

Recent Changes in PECO Current Rates

PECO small commercial and industrial rates have also decreased. For General Service (GS) customers at or under 100 kW, PECO's rate effective March 1, 2025 is 7.170¢ per kWh, approximately 14% lower than the previous rate of 8.336¢ per kWh3.

By monitoring current PECO rates and regularly comparing available options from third-party suppliers, Pennsylvania residents can optimize their electricity costs while preparing for seasonal fluctuations in energy usage.
